Puerto Seguro is grateful for assistance from the Catholic Foundation. They gave us a grant to purchase Ready-To-Eat foods for distribution at the day shelter. Community members often come to Puerto Seguro in need of emergency food and these Ready-To-Eat foods 7help them get through the weekend when our facility is not open.
We provide Emergency Food Kits that are customized for folks who have no way to cook, and we include Ready-to-Eat food items like pop-top ravioli, tuna, crackers, granola bars, pop-tarts, cereal, ramen noodles, and cups of fruit or pudding. These food kits are a tremendous help to children and adults who would otherwise go hungry.
The Catholic Foundation awarded Puerto Seguro the grant for the purpose of purchasing Ready-to-Eat meal kit components. The goal is to distribute at least 30 of the kits each week. Puerto Seguro received the grant in September of 2021, and in October of 2021 we distributed 309 food kits in just the first month!
